Inspired by my dear friend Allison, I took up the challenge to take a photo each day in 2011 to document my life. I embarked on this with some trepidation (I was not sure I would remember to take a picture every day), and with some curiosity: I didn't have a plan for this project and I was excited to see how it would evolve. What would my life look like, day by day, throughout one year?

Well, one year on, I am addicted to this project. I already took a lot of photos of my children but I have loved the way the 365 challenge has disciplined me to think about and appreciate EVERY SINGLE day - and the precious moments in every day that in the past have flown by unnoticed... I am thrilled to continue with this blog in 2012 - although it really should be retitled: Day by Day 366! Looking forward to a new year...

Day 137: Election Day

Well, it is 11:10 pm and I had assumed I would be reporting on the results of the election today. However, the results have not yet been announced. The unofficial numbers released an hour ago showed our "Yes" campaign a nail-biting 17 votes ahead. In Oregon, all votes are by mail - but David likes to drop his ballot off at the library and he always takes the kids with him and gives them a civics lesson.

  1. interesting all votes are by mail. is that for all elections or just this one? we obviously have voting issues here in FL, interesting how other states do it.

  2. Yes, all elections here in Oregon are vote by mail. Many people drop their ballots off at the library in the last few days before election day; others mail their ballots. The system seems to work well I think - even though we are currently losing our election by two votes! Loved the snake skin picture - impressed by the way you encouraged your daughter to overcome her fears!
